PROP G: Offer Algebra 1 to 8th graders in SFUSD (March 2024)

SAN FRANCISCO LOCAL MEASURE

Prop G would adopt a City policy to encourage the San Francisco Unified School District to offer Algebra 1 to students by 8th grade. We have not taken a position on this ballot measure. On issues pertaining to SFUSD and public education, SF Rising Action Fund follows the leadership of our member organizations that organize directly with SFUSD families and work on campaigns affecting the school district and school board such as ending the school to prison pipeline and increasing mental health services for students. These organizations have both taken a neutral position on Prop G because although they want to see math curriculum reforms actualized, they believe that the issue of math programming should be left to the school district and not to voters, and that this particular issue will not reach the needs of the city’s most marginalized students.
